Looking for help to fix some artifacts on a Toshiba Opart MRI

January 31, 2018 09:25

Hello, dear colleagues.
I am in trouble with a Toshiba Opart MRI system, and I am looking for help to fix artifacts that appear on head scan images. Artifacts appear just when I use QD head coil. Image is noisy and blurred in whatever secuence I use. This coil was already tested on another equipment, and images are good, with no artifacts. All other coils make clear images in any secuence.
I have already replaced the miniTCM, TRM, FSM and DRADM boards.
Can anybody give me a support to solve this problem? Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Hi! Maybe next, in the field of action of the magnetic field, there are large metal objects such as car or metal sewer pipes???

Hi, Ramil.
Thanks a lot for replying.
I am not sure about that, but if were the case, would it affect just to QD Head coil? What about the other coils?
Do you have any other suggestion?
Best regards.

more likely it stays you to check the coil connecting box, there you know should be combined coil outputs to micro-TCM inputs: two ports 1 and 2, every of which has two channels A and B: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B.

Hi, Iosif.
First of all, thanks a lot for responding.
I have the coil connecting box replaced and the mini- TCM, but with not success. The fail stays.
Do not you think that the problem is in the Faraday cage? If so, how can I check it?
Regards.

Hi, generally cabin leakage should have effect on all coils, may be different effect, but I think you have to see it on all coils. Probability of the leakage I think is not zero, but is not big - here could be sequence parametrers you use for head and so on.
I would prefer to expect, that the problem lays in control/supply to micro-TCM and Coil Connect. box or between micro-TCM and CCB. This two boards mostly define the difference in how particular coil is connected to the system. It is much more likely

Hi,Iosif.
Thanks a lot for replying.
I will check these boards.
What is CCB? Where is it located in?
Can wrong parameters generate such kind of artifacts on head secuences?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards.

Hi,
I meant the connection between noise and sequences very generally. In case the noise has narrow bandwidth such that it will be in the sequence bandwidth, you will may be see it in the picture. I don't know which noise you have, I could just suppose your system loose receive sensitivity to MR signal because of problems I told above.
CCB, excuse me, it's my abbreviation of Coil Connection Box.

Hello Vic,
Can you possibly attach a picture of the images (or send to my email nlcmedical@hotmail.com). You mentioned noisy AND blurry images on QD Head coil - these arte usually caused by 2 different things, so, i am need more info to help you.
Coil connection box stands out; however, you say you have already changed that. I would make sure the ground wires are securly attached from the coil box to the penn panel boards.
There is a small piggy back board (filter ID board) that is in line to the Mini-TCM - check that out.
First of all, how are your Daily QA numbers?
