Five Minutes in Healthcare is a new series we've introduced in HealthCare Business News, where I discuss current events with some of the industry's most influential leaders, as well as innovative thinkers who are working to meet the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the last week I have had the pleasure of speaking to David Mason, Mayor James Brainard, Stephen Hodgson, Sterling Peloso and Ed Richardson. Each interview is approximately five minutes long, or a few minutes over five.

In this installment we speak to David Mason, the CEO of Health Connect Partners (HCP). He talks about the new virtual reverse expo format that HCP is introducing, and also shares his long term ideas for what the coronavirus pandemic could mean for the healthcare community and the trade shows of the future.

In this installment we speak to James Brainard, the mayor of Carmel, Indiana, about the unique partnership between himself and New York City Mayor, Bill DeBlasio. By working together, a company in Carmel was able to donate 50,000 COVID-19 tests to NYC, and since then, DeBlasio has begun purchasing the tests from the company.

Brainard also talks about a successful new program in Carmel called 'Feed the Frontlines' that has raised over $150,000 purchasing food from local restaurants and donating it to hospital workers.

In this installment we speak to Stephen Hodgson, director of Multi-Medix, a UK-based ultrasound technology provider. We look at the role of ultrasound in the coronavirus pandemic, the importance of listening to infection control experts, and how Hodgson manages to stay optimistic during difficult times.

In this installment we speak to Sterling Peloso, president of Avante Health Solutions, about the role of ultrasound and patient monitoring in the coronavirus pandemic, and the way his company has taken the need for service as a "rallying cry" to support the regions of the country being hit the hardest.

In this installment we speak to Ed Richardson, CEO of Richardson Electronics, about how the company is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic and remaining productive as an essential business. Ed also shares his predictions for how this crisis will shape the future of healthcare delivery and the equipment industry.
