PDS high-sensitivity NeuroPET Scanner Receives FDA 510(k) Clearance

Complements existing clinical
and research efforts
with high quality,
low cost neuro-imaging
capacity
The NeuroPET has been designed to serve the clinical and research needs of the molecular neuro-imaging community.

NeuroPET's state-of-the-art, patented wavelength- shifting fiber technology enables ultra high- sensitivity and excellent spatial resolution. Its compact/portable design requires no special site preparation and allows for significantly reduced cost of ownership compared to general-purpose PET scanners. NeuroPET uses very low doses of 18F and 11C tracers to image metabolism, amyloid, and dopaminergic binding in neurological diseases. These tracers are known to be helpful in imaging challenging and costly diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, neuro-oncology, and neuro-psychiatric disorders.

NeuroPET can complement existing clinical and research efforts with high quality, low cost neuro-imaging capacity and its ultra high- sensitivity performance can allow for more frequent repeat low dose scanning of the same subject to monitor response to therapy.

"We are pleased to have achieved this commercial milestone and look forward to continuing our collaborations with existing NeuroPET users and expanding our marketing and sales activities," stated Paul Domigan, PDS President and CEO.

PhotoDetection Systems will be exhibiting at two upcoming conferences:

Society of Nuclear Medicine's (SNM) Annual Meeting Toronto, Canada,
June 13-16, 2009
PDS NeuroPET booth #717
International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease (ICAD) Vienna, Austria,
July 11-15, 2009
PDS NeuroPET booth #316

Scientific abstracts including NeuroPET data and images will be presented at both meetings and NeuroPET information and image quality demonstrations will be available at our exhibits.

About PhotoDetection Systems
Founded at Boston University's Photonic Center in 1999, PhotoDetection Systems (PDS) is committed to delivering the highest quality PET imaging at the lowest dose for research and clinic use. Our growing team works in an ISO 13485-certified facility with R&D, Operations and Customer Support Services in place. The PDS mission is to provide PET imaging technologies to the research and clinical communities that may enable development of effective treatments, monitoring, and early detection of disease. www.photodetection.com
