Wisconsin's Froedtert ThedaCare invests $84 million in new Oshkosh hospital

Wisconsin's Froedtert ThedaCare Health has invested $84 million into a new hospital it is building in Oshkosh.
Following its merger at the beginning of the year, Froedtert ThedaCare Health has set to work building a new hospital campus in Oshkosh, Wisconsin that will be worth an estimated $84 million.

Froedtert Health and ThedaCare officially became one health system on January 1, 2024, and are now beginning the groundwork on a smaller-scale but modern hospital that will offer emergency and inpatient care, including 24/7 CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and MR imaging and lab services.

A retail pharmacy, an ambulatory surgery center with operating rooms, inpatient beds, and a medical office building for primary care and specialties are also part of the design for the approximately 85,000-square-foot facility, providing access for patients in Northeast and Central Wisconsin. The health system says it will add more services over time based on community needs.

“We want to continue improving the health of those living in the area by offering care to more of our communities, including emergency, primary, and specialty care,” said Dr. Imran Andrabi, president of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, in a statement.

The campus will be located at 250 West 6th Avenue on the Fox River in downtown Oshkosh, close to nearly 73% of Oshkosh’s residents, who live east of Interstate 41. Currently, most healthcare sites are located west of I-41, making trips to a hospital or ER more than 15 minutes for these patients.

Miron Construction will oversee construction, which will be based on the designs of architectural and engineering firm HGA. The Sigma Group will be the civil engineer and landscape architect, and the owner representative will be Hplex Solutions.

Once complete, the facility is expected to create approximately 60 caregiver and staff jobs. Its construction coincides with a health campus that Froedtert ThedaCare Health is setting up in Fond du Lac.

Both are expected to be completed in 2025.
