LucidHealth, an enterprise of community-based radiology practices serving outpatient imaging centers and healthcare facilities, has struck up a partnership with Las Vegas-based HCA Southern Hills Hospital & Medical Center that marks its regional debut in the Southwest U.S.

A Sunrise Health System Hospital, HCA Southern Hills Hospital & Medical Center is a 265-bed facility providing emergency and pediatric care. It also includes a behavioral health program, an accredited chest pain center, a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, a dedicated orthopedic and spine unit, OB/GYN, diagnostic imaging, outpatient infusion clinic, and surgical services.

LucidHealth will provide subspecialized remote and onsite reading for diagnostic and interventional radiology in the main hospital and two free-standing emergency departments as well as a third ED that HCA Southern Hills will open later this year.

Founded in 2016 and backed by private equity firm Excellere Partners, the company is based in Columbus, Ohio, and operates in about 20 imaging centers there and Connecticut, Florida, Wisconsin, Iowa, and West Virginia. It refers to itself as the “largest physician-owned, outsourced providers of radiology services” in the U.S. and has a team of 318 radiologists working under it. It also provides coverage options for onsite patient care and customizable service packages to support changes in staffing.

LucidHealth’s remote and onsite diagnostic and interventional readings are facilitated by its proprietary, AI-based RadAssist technology, designed to optimize complex, multisite radiology interpretations in a single reading room. The technology combines disparate separate PACS, dictation, and EMR applications, creating unified workflows that improve staffing patterns and productivity.

It also eliminates manual routing and reduces redundant steps so clinicians can access more data and retrieve results faster, and allows them to switch between different sites and systems. With the platform, the company reads more than 500,000 studies annually.
