Arizona Diagnostic Radiology Group has expanded access to its medical imaging services in the Phoenix area through the acquisition of seven outpatient imaging centers from Evernorth Care Group.

The RadNet-Dignity Health joint venture was established in 2020 and now has 16 outpatient locations in the city that will provide specialized imaging in oncology, musculoskeletal, cardiac and vascular, and neuroscience to Evernorth Care patients.

“This acquisition moves us further in the direction of achieving the patient access and breadth of services that we strive for in all of our core markets,” said RadNet president and chief executive officer Dr. Howard Berger in a statement.

All centers will be equipped with RadNet’s radiology information and image management systems, including RIS, PACS, speech recognition, patient and physician portals, and back-end technology solutions. They also will use DeepHealth’s AI-powered, cloud-native informatics platform launched by RadNet in November that includes PACS, RIS, and diagnostic workspace applications, and reporting tools for assessing lung, prostate, breast, and brain scans. It also uses operational generative AI to orchestrate patient engagement and care delivery.

Arizona Diagnostic Radiology has been a partner of Evernorth Care since June 2022, providing it with radiologists to supervise, interpret, and deliver diagnostic support. At its locations, Arizona Diagnostic Radiology performs MR, CT, X-ray, nuclear medicine, PET, women’s, and Dexa imaging among other types of scanning.

Dignity Health is part of CommonSpirit Health and is the fifth-largest health system in the U.S., providing care in 21 states with 60,000 caregivers and staff members.

RadNet has a network of 366 owned and operated outpatient imaging centers in California, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Arizona. Its affiliated radiologists, including full-time and per diem employees and technologists, and other staff members amount to approximately 9,000 employees.

In addition to Arizona Diagnostic Radiology, the company recently started a new joint venture with Cedars-Sinai called the Los Angeles Imaging Group, which will initially be made up of three centers and eventually encompass ten throughout the city.
