Starting with its CardIQ Suite, GE HealthCare will integrate its AW Family Advanced Visualization applications with Sectra’s enterprise imaging diagnostic application, establishing a unified platform that reduces the number of systems needed for optimal workflow and makes it easier for radiologists to obtain results faster and avoid becoming burned out.

The AW Family Advanced Visualization applications span 60 designed for different conditions and for use among multiple modalities. CardIQ Suite uses deep learning software to automatically locate coronary artery calcifications and provide a total and per territory score within seconds, using CT cardiac post-processing tools to automate workflow.

Sectra’s enterprise imaging diagnostic application acts as a single point of access for storing images, video, and data, reducing the need to switch between different applications. As a result, different departments can collaborate and access the same materials with fewer systems and integrations required, which decreases overhead. In doing so, it allows clinicians to make care decisions faster and facilitate better outcomes for patients while they are in early stages of diseases.
The integration is expected to decrease clinician workloads, and will eventually expand to include applications for orchestration, other forms of diagnostics, report generation, result distribution, and more.

"This potential integration aims to increase accessibility and functionality, not only to help clinicians save time and increase productivity, but also streamlining the cardiology care pathway by easing the transition between applications — or even workstations — and reducing total number of clicks,” said Jan Makela, president and CEO of Imaging at GE HealthCare, in a statement.

Part of its enterprise imaging software subscription, Sectra’s application can be expanded to include more specialties and different enterprises. It has vendor-neutral archiving for DICOM and non-DICOM images, videos, and documents as well as other data to avoid migrations and vendor lock-in and reduces the need for third-party specialized applications, lowering costs and speeding up diagnoses.

Sectra’s open API and GE HealthCare’s open ecosystem, both of which allow application developers to integrate their products, are what make this integration possible.
