Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, has acquired Aspekt Solutions.
Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, has acquired Aspekt Solutions, adding consultation services to its Advanced Oncology Solutions portfolio to provide cancer centers with more customized service offerings based on expertise in medical physics, dosimetry, and best practices.

Aspekt Solutions provides radiology and radiation oncology providers with access to experts who can teach them best practices used worldwide for staffing, guidance, technical, and operational needs. Under Varian, it will help cancer centers expand, upgrade, and standardize operations to address challenges such as the rising cost of care, technological complexity, and a shortage of skilled personnel.

"With Aspekt Solutions, we can support more oncology centers with a holistic approach to addressing today's challenges while also preparing for the fast-evolving future of cancer care," said Chuck Lindley, vice president of AOS at Varian, in a statement.

Aspekt Solutions has more than 100 technical, clinical, and operational experts with experience guiding the establishment of new facilities and providing upgrades to existing ones to automate treatment processes, increase patient numbers, and preserve standards of care and safety protocols, including through mergers and acquisitions.

Its services include programming and clinical management; consulting and compliance; technology (including evaluation, maintenance, implementation and adoption, training, and planning); and staffing solutions. Its physics and dosimetry services include monthly/annual machine QA and on-site and remote physicists and dosimetrists for in-house teams or temporary staffing gaps. It also offers shielding design and commissioning.

Varian was acquired by Siemens Healthineers in 2021, marking the German-based company’s return to the radiotherapy market in over a decade.

Earlier this year, the company gained FDA clearance and CE mark for its Halcyon and Ethos radiotherapy systems with HyperSight imaging for calculating radiation dose distribution on cone-beam CT images to adapt and improve treatment.

It also established interoperability between its TrueBeam linear accelerators and RaySearch Laboratories’ oncology information system RayCare.

“Our immediate focus will be on ensuring that the transition is as smooth as it is beneficial for customers and Aspekt Solutions employees,” said Brian Pellegrini, CEO of Aspekt Solutions.
