Magnifico Open total body MR scanner
Esaote has launched its first total body MR system, Magnifico Open.

Designed to produce high-quality images, the solution is expected to meet clinical needs, as well as operational and financial demands in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

It debuted last week as part of an exclusive streaming event on several platforms. “With our experience and thanks to continual cooperation with many medical and scientific partners, we are entering the field of full body magnetic resonance imaging,” said Esaote CEO Franco Fontana in a statement.

Scanning diverse joints is made possible with a variety of coils, including for the shoulders, wrists and hands, knees, head, ankles, feet, and spine. Attached to the solution is a permanent magnet, which is simple to install and comes with low operating costs. It also has a patient table that is easy to access and can be set up fast for comfortable positioning. This helps when scanning claustrophobic patients and children.

Magnifico Open is also equipped with Speed Up, an Esaote technology designed to optimize image quality and reduce exam times. Another feature is its True-Motion real-time imaging, which allows for more comprehensive clinical diagnostics, especially in high-level sports medicine. Post-surgical imaging is also enhanced with the use of MAR (Metal Artifact Reduction).

Esaote offers a number of MR solutions to providers worldwide. Earlier this year, it installed the first O-scan Elite Dedicated MRI at University Radiology in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Designed to image upper and lower joints, the scanner comes with True Motion for real-time imaging of the joint in motion; AgilExam, an AI-based examination planning software; and MAR as well. It also runs on a standard power outlet and does not need helium, which saves on maintenance and operating costs.

The company also manufactures ultrasound devices, including the MyLabX75. Launched in June, the scanner is designed to perform all applications in general imaging, cardiovascular, women’s health and shared service imaging.

Esaote is currently focused on launching Magnifico Open in Europe. The system is 510(k) pending in the U.S.
