Medical imaging developer Mindray North America has placed distribution of its ultrasound systems in the hands of Probo Medical, known for selling refurbished medical equipment to healthcare practices worldwide.

Probo will now be able to supply providers with ultrasound imaging solutions that range from entry-level black-and-white systems like Mindray’s Resona 7 system, to advanced cart-based and touch-enabled solutions embedded with AI-enabled technologies such as the TE7 Portable Ultrasound Machine.

“Through this alignment with Mindray, we’re able to offer a wide range of quality, accessible products that meet a healthcare organization’s diagnostic imaging needs,” Michael Asmer, CEO of Probo Medical, said in a statement.

Mindray manufactures ultrasound solutions for general imaging, women’s health and point-of-care. It offers tablet-based, portable, and cart-based solutions that can be used anywhere, and versions that can be used in offices. It also offers ZONE Sonography Technology (ZST) for acoustic data acquisition and image formation. ZST software can use up to 90% more ultrasound data than conventional ultrasound platforms and is 10 times faster, according to the company.

Mindray earlier this year opened up a refurbishment program for its ultrasound systems, patient monitors and anesthesia machines. Known as its inReach Product Refurbishment Program, the initiative offers providers with limited budgets access to high-quality Mindray products at affordable pricing, with each device undergoing a 12-point comprehensive refurbishment process.

It also, in March, struck up an agreement that provides Intalere members with negotiated pricing on durable hand-carry designs and intuitive, touch-enabled ultrasound systems. It then followed this up in June with the launch of its Resona i9 ultrasound system for general imaging.

Probo, meanwhile, offers refurbishment, sales, parts, service and repair on ultrasound, C-arms, CT, MR, PET/CT and X-Ray. It recently has undertaken a number of acquisitions to boost its ultrasound services. Back in June, the refurbisher acquired Tenvision, which provides it with a team of sales representatives, field service engineers and in-house repair technicians with expertise in ultrasound equipment needs.

It also purchased in April SonoDepot, a third-party service, maintenance, and repair company with a long history of providing ultrasound maintenance, service and sales to hospitals, physician offices and imaging centers.

In 2019, it acquired Trisonics, which specializes in the sale, refurbishment and repair of ultrasound devices and accessories, including the resale of 2D, 3D/4D and transesophageal ultrasound probes.

“I am thrilled that this new partnership with Probo Medical provides us with an incredible opportunity to expand on our vision of delivering better healthcare for all,” said Mindray North America president Wayne Quinn. “As we continue to collaborate with industry leaders and expand our footprint in the private office segment, we are proud of the chance we have to bring innovative, best in class, and accessible solutions to a broader range of clinicians.”
