A confusing time to be in business

I've spoken to so many people in the medical equipment business over the last few months and it seems that everyone's a little confused.
A lot of people have been vaccinated but some are unwilling. People are traveling again but you have to wear a mask on the airplane. Hospitals are placing orders for equipment but everything takes longer.
More and more people are working from home and companies are paying rent on spaces they don't need. Many workers prefer to be at home and some prefer to be in the office. Most everyone I know is having a banner year but it's harder to do business.
Vaccinations and politics are dividing old friends. I've seen lunches and dinners and even Zoom calls turn into shouting matches.
I don't know about the rest of the country but in New York City most people are back to normal when it comes to dining out. Of course, that could change as we deal with the Delta variant.
Almost to a person, our staff prefers to work from home. We're getting the work done, we're providing the customer service, and we are keeping the lights on. We made the decision to downscale our office because we don't need 10,000 square feet in an office building when no one wants to come in.
I remember how the world changed after 9/11. I believe the way we do business is going to change after the coronavirus.
