Louisville, CO - July 9, 2019 - Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) today announced Senior Vice President of Product Management Chris Luoma will lead a Learning Lab session at the Association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) AHRMM19 Conference. Luoma’s session, entitled “The Shifting Continuum of Care and Its Impact on Supply Chain: Are You Ready?” will take place Monday, July 29 at 11:30 am and will look at how lessons learned from supply chain performance at acute healthcare facilities can be utilized to improve supply chain performance at non-acute facilities, a critical challenge as more medical care moves beyond the walls of the traditional hospital setting.

In his session, Luoma will compare and contrast the worlds of acute and non-acute care supply chain and explore top considerations for these new frontiers of care. He will discuss why management of outpatient care settings requires different thinking and explore the particular challenges that come with managing supplies across town and even across states.

“The continuum of care is rapidly shifting and supply chain’s job is getting far more complex,” said Luoma. “Major trends in healthcare, including the decline in ‘fee-for-service’ and the corresponding increase in value-based payment programs, are increasingly pushing care to outpatient settings. Studies have shown that 60 percent of the available procedures have already moved outside the four walls of the hospital. In this session, we’ll discuss how supply chain leaders can address the unique challenges that come with managing supplies across different facilities located in different geographies.”

Session attendees will gain an understanding of the unique challenges ahead with this shift in care sites and discover solutions for achieving visibility and standardization in the non-acute space. They will also learn how their peers are beginning to tackle these challenges by leveraging acute-care best practices and establishing new practices designed specifically for non-acute settings.
