KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- MercyOne, a large healthcare system in Iowa, partnered with PerfectServe® to implement its secure communication technology across eight critical access hospitals. The project follows the implementation of PerfectServe's technology at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and aims to optimize physician collaboration across urban and rural areas.

MercyOne is a system of hospitals, clinics, an accountable care organization (ACO) and other healthcare facilities run under a joint operating agreement between Catholic Health Initiatives and Trinity Health, two of the country's largest Catholic, not-for-profit health organizations. The Mercy ACO, comprised of more than 2,300 doctors organized into regional ACOs and clinically integrated networks, is working to reduce hospital admissions, emergency department visits and other expensive care by improving population health through advances in care coordination and communication.

Like many integrated health systems, MercyOne was increasingly concerned about the efficiency and security of clinical communications. With PerfectServe, the organization is safeguarding protected health information (PHI) by establishing secure messaging between providers and care teams, which simplifies collaboration and referrals to Des Moines Medical Center and reduces network leakage.
