Users of the syngo.via platform by Siemens Healthineers can soon expect a higher level of surgical planning at their fingertips with the integration of mediCAD Classic.

Designed by mediCAD Hectec, the high-performance modular software assures that quality control is present when laying out steps for performing orthopedic surgery, and is expected to help simplify orthopedic and radiology processes as an integrated partner application for syngo.via.

"syngo.via OpenApps provides you direct and open access to a world of innovation," Andreas Feneberg, head of product management at mediCAD Hectec, told HCB News. "Get access and run an ever-growing variety of clinical applications from Siemens Healthineers and our partners – directly on your syngo.via.

With only one click, apps are installed within minutes after download for all your clients to use, thus fitting seamlessly into your clinical workflow. They have been scanned for security vulnerabilities and integrated into the safe environment of syngo.via by Siemens Healthineers."

The solution deciphers the most efficient alternatives to surgery by combining images with information retrieved from a database of digital implant templates designed by 130 manufacturers. It then presents its findings in an easy-to-understand compact form.

As part of Siemens’ multi-modality reading solution, radiologists and surgeons will be able to seamlessly and directly access mediCAD applications without additional IT infrastructure or the need to start the software separately.

Users can purchase the software through syngo.via OpenApps, the integrated store that connects syngo.via to the Siemens Healthineers Digital Ecosystem, which recently added on six new partners including mediCAD. They must, however, hold a syngo.via version that is not older than VB30.

"With the integration of mediCAD in syngo.via the customer benefits from the possibility to have access to a digital planning software without leaving his syngo.via surrounding," said Feneberg. "Meaning that on the one hand, radiologists and orthopeadic surgeons using syngo.via as a common platform can directly load their images in mediCAD and start planning their surgery. All under the umbrella of syngo.via."

The partnership follows another established this month by Siemens to connect the Access-I software of Clinical Laserthermia Systems with the German healthcare giant’s Magnetom MR scanners.

A 30-day trial version and the ability to request a quotation are also available, with upgrades to the latest software version and prosthesis database set up to occur regularly.
