FORT MYERS, Fla., Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- 21st Century Oncology has announced that Charlie Powell, CMPE, FACHE joined the company as the Chief Operating Officer on Jan. 1, 2019. A premier cancer care provider, the company welcomes Powell as the newest member of their "One Dream Team."

Powell brings an extensive background in physician practice, ambulatory facility, and hospital leadership experience in health systems, as well as private practices. Powell's impressive accomplishments in establishing physician-led governance structures, increasing quality, safety and service scores and improving revenue cycle operations as well as his expertise in turnaround, population health, and strategic planning align well with the new 21st Century Oncology's vision for the future.

Powell joins 21st Century Oncology from KentuckyOne Health in Louisville, Kentucky where he served as the President, Physician Enterprise and Ambulatory for Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. In these positions, Powell improved patient satisfaction and quality measures, hospital operating performance, and achieved the top quartile CG-CAHPS access scores in the medical group.

In addition to his accomplishments at KentuckyOne Health, Powell held positions at Saint Thomas Health in Nashville, Tennessee as CEO, Physician Services and CEO, Saint Thomas Heart. He also served as CEO, Northeast Georgia Heart Center in Gainesville, Georgia and COO, Piedmont HealthCare in Statesville, North Carolina.
