Mortsel, Belgium /Greenville, SC - 7 June 2018 -- Agfa announces today that it has installed two DX-D 300 direct radiography (DR) solutions at the multi-office Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, Potomac Valley Orthopaedic Associates Division, replacing a previous, early-generation DR system. The Agfa DX-D 300 system was purchased through Chesepeake Medical Systems, Inc., a regional Agfa channel partner. The customer chose Agfa for the excellent image quality, supported by MUSICA image processing software, and the exceptional service and support provided by Chesepeake Medical Systems, Inc. and Agfa.

Large-scale, multi-site practice

Potomac Valley Orthopaedic Associates is one of the largest orthopaedic practices in the Washington metropolitan area, which includes the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Its different sites see between 80-100 patients every day.

To replace an early-generation DR system, the center chose to install two Agfa DX-D 300 solutions, in its Olney and Columbia (Maryland) facilities. The installations were carried out in February 2018 over the weekends and after hours, to ensure that the workflow and daily operations were not impacted.

Excellent image quality and potential for dose reduction

Agfa's DR solutions are designed according to the ALARA principle (as low as reasonably achievable) to deliver the optimum balance between low radiation dose and high image quality.

Exam-independent, Agfa's MUSICA image processing software instantly delivers excellent DR image quality with very efficient workflow. MUSICA's latest technology improvements provide even more detail in images. Along with enhanced noise suppression and superb brightness and density stabilization, MUSICA Image processing software provides excellent detail at a lower dose.

Agfa's DR solutions include a choice of fixed, tethered and wireless detectors, with either Cesium Iodide (CsI) or Gadolinium Oxy-Sulphide (GOS) technology. CsI also offers the potential for dose reduction[1].

By allowing a potential dose reduction and increasing diagnostic confidence, the DX-D 300 answers the need for constant enhancement of patient comfort and performance in the orthopaedic practice.

A compact solution for a broad range of X-ray exams

The floor-mounted DX-D 300 with fully motorized U-arm is very easy and cost-effective to install, even in limited spaces. Yet it can handle a broad range of X-ray studies, including lateral exams and full leg/full spine with automatic image stitching. This versatility makes it ideal for an orthopaedic environment.

Service "beyond the call of duty"

"Agfa went beyond the call of duty to accommodate the after-hours installation and extra application support," comments Joan Fitzgerald, RN, CNOR, Clinical Administrator at Potomac Valley Orthopaedic Associates. "We would recommend Agfa and the DX-D 300 solutions, which are supporting our commitment to providing compassionate, proven and prompt care to all patients."

"We are very pleased that the Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, Potomac Valley Orthopaedic Associates Division, one of the largest orthopaedic practice in the Washington metropolitan area, has chosen our solutions and our service," says Hollie Greene, Channel Sales Manager for Agfa. "Our comprehensive DR portfolio delivers high-quality imaging, while improving workflow and user satisfaction, with solutions that meet the needs of any healthcare enterprise - including Potomac Valley Orthopaedic Associates."
