Last week, the first lady of Mozambique, along with delegates from Sudan, Zimbabwe and other surrounding nations visited KPI Healthcare’s headquarters in Yorba Linda, CA.
The reason for the visit was to explore the possibility of securing a reliable source for quality medical equipment to improve the health care of the people in Mozambique.
The government of Mozambique has been searching for a reliable source for their medical health care needs for quite some time. Until recently, they were not able to find a provider that would meet their needs. Upon the first lady’s arrival, management at KPI Healthcare gave guided tours of their 50,000-square-foot facility and displayed their products ranging from ultrasound systems to C-arm X-ray scanners.
After being exposed to what KPI Healthcare has to offer through product demonstrations and lengthy meetings, key decision makers of the Mozambique government decided to partner with KPI Healthcare to bring forth an improvement In Mozambique’s health care. They are finalizing the contract for more than $1 million in equipment and medical supplies.
In an effort to reduce mortality rates in the region, KPI Healthcare is also donating a generous amount of equipment and supplies to aid the government in beginning a new health initiative. Some of the items include ultrasound systems, endoscopes, KPI-branded patient monitors and KPI-branded glucose monitors. These are all going to a new hospital in Mozambique as part of the first lady's initiative.
During the donation ceremony, a well-known and experienced doctor in Africa, Dr. Rashid, announced his plans to build a beautiful new hospital in the country of Mozambique, to be named after the first lady. KPI Healthcare will be the sole provider of the equipment needed to run the hospital. According to the first lady, “This is not the end of a historic visit to KPI Healthcare, but the beginning of a lasting partnership between us that will fuel the future of health care not only in Mozambique, but all of Africa.”
Annual meetings are being prepared to take place, starting next year, to discuss how KPI Healthcare and the government of Mozambique can continue to work together to improve the nation’s well-being. CEO and president of KPI Healthcare Steven Minn comments, “We are excited about this opportunity to make an impact and improve the health care environment for Mozambique and the surrounding nations.”
