Countdown to MEDICA 2014

There's one thing the health care industry can count on when November rolls around every year: thousands of top OEMs, and tens of thousands of medical professionals, will make their annual pilgrimage to MEDICA - the world's largest medical trade show held annually in Dusseldorf, Germany — which has held claim to that title for more than 10 years running.

What's the attraction? It's simple: if it's a health care product or service - ANY health care product or service — you'll see it at MEDICA.

MEDICA, first held in the 1969, has grown to become the most all-encompassing health care show in the world — indeed, MEDICA calls itself the "World Forum for Medicine." This year again MEDICA will play host to more than 4,600 exhibitors from over 65 countries. This event is so big, it requires 19 sprawling exhibit halls to house all the exhibiting companies. When you add them all up, these companies cover more than 1.3 million square feet of exhibit space.

The show is so big, it requires its own special map, which can be seen at this link: MEDICA Building Map

And here's what MEDICA looks like when you fly into Dusseldorf: MEDICA Aerial View

How big is it?
To put the size of MEDICA in perspective, let's compare it to RSNA, the biggest tradeshow in North America. MEDICA's 4,600-plus exhibitors are more than six times as many as RSNA. And MEDICA's 132,000-plus attendees are almost three times as many as attend RSNA.

But then, MEDICA does host virtually every type of medical product, service that exists. In fact it is so popular, all the exhibit space at MEDICA 2014 is sold out, but if you want to exhibit, you can go on a wait-list.

Below are the main categories MEDICA uses to divide up the world of health care, and each specialty is housed in one or more buildings, depending on the number of exhibitors that need to be accommodated. Your business will certainly fall under one of them:

- Electromedicine / Medical Technology
- Laboratory Equipment
- Diagnostics
- Physiotherapy / Orthopaedic Technology
- Commodities and Consumer Goods
- Information and Communication Technology
- Medical Services and Publications

U.S. companies have discovered MEDICA — in a big way
This year at MEDICA, more than 450 U.S. companies will be in the U.S. Pavilion. That number exceeds the number of companies that exhibit at almost every show in the U.S. except RSNA and HIMSS. It makes the U.S. the leading foreign contingents of exhibitors — and it makes MEDICA the leading medical trade show for U.S. companies outside of North America.

MEDICA forums, conferences, and continuing medical education offerings
Under MEDICA's 'big tent' you'll find a wide range of seminars, presentations and practical courses make the MEDICA Education Conference a unique event, especially for doctors. Here are some highlights:
- MEDICA Health IT Forum
- MEDICA connected healthcare forum
- MEDICA Tech Forum
- MEDICA Physio Forum
- MEDICA Wound Care Forum
- COMPAMED High-Tech Forum by IVAM
