AllParts Medical awarded ISO certification

AllParts Medical, a medical imaging parts and service company acquired by Philips Healthcare in 2011, has been awarded ISO 13485:2003 — a certification from the International Standards Organization (ISO).

This ISO requires stringent qualifications from its vendors, and AllParts Medical is among only a select group of multi-vendor parts and service companies to receive this certification.

"This is another demonstration to our customers and to the market, around our commitment to quality," said Steve Cannon, president of AllParts Medical. "Quality has always been a key focus for AllParts but going after this ISO certification was simply saying we’re taking our focus on quality to the next level."

Cannon said the certification involves far more than the quality of the parts and service. It requires documenting all business functions, including customer service, technical operations and finance and accounting.

Pursuing this certification was a significant undertaking for the company -- especially since it entered into the process shortly after the acquisition by Phillips. "Anytime you introduce change into an organization, it becomes difficult. But the AllParts medical team and Philips embraced this process and quickly saw the benefits," said Cannon.
