DMN: What's your new title?

DR: Group Vice President, Health & Medical Equipment, Enterprise Business Division, Samsung Electronics America.

DMN: How would you describe your new job?

DR: Developing the roadmap and business strategy for the health and medical equipment business for Samsung in North America.

DMN: How did you get started in the industry?

DR: I have always had a passion for health care and started in 1993 in the Australia/Asia market working in various roles in service, marketing and sales before moving to the U.S. in 2001.

DMN: How does your background play a direct role in what you bring to this new position?

DR: The health care industry globally is constantly changing and I have experienced these changes across several regions over the past 20 years. We have seen a great deal of change and consolidation in the U.S. health care industry over the past decade, particularly in the past three years with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. These changes create opportunities to provide solutions focused on accurate, easy and fast diagnosis. To be successful, health care companies need to partner with physician providers and Accountable Care Organizations to achieve the goals of these changes.

DMN: What are your goals in your new position?

DR: To develop and execute the strategy for the health and medical equipment business at Samsung to become a top tier health care company in North America and globally.

DMN: What excites you most about the industry these days?

DR: The recent changes in health care reform highlight an opportunity to work closely with healthcare providers to change clinical pathways that will increase the quality of care provided while reducing costs.

DMN: Do you have any interesting hobbies?

DR: Having spent a great deal of time in Sydney I enjoy sailing and I am learning how to play the Didgeridoo.
