Dallas, Texas (AHRA booth #201) - August 12, 2011 -- Enhanced communication, accessibility to remote physicians and improved workflow are just some of the benefits that hospitals and radiology departments can expect to gain from MD2GO™, a new remote HD IP camera system from Sony Medical. Making its debut to the field of radiology during the Annual Meeting of the Association for Medical Imaging Management (AHRA), Dallas, Texas, August 14 - 17, MD2GO leverages Sony's leading visual imaging technologies to bring advanced communication to radiology.

The system is designed to enable HD Video communication between remote parties including multiple radiologists, radiologists and referring physicians, or even with radiologists and their patients. By simply using a PC and Microsoft Internet Explorer®, the radiologist can view the other party in HD video and have a two-way audio conversation from virtually anywhere at any time. Among the many applications for radiology use would be in the operating room for observing interventional radiology procedures, for patient monitoring following a procedure, or for teaching applications for radiologists or technologists.
"The potential applications for MD2GO in radiology are virtually unlimited," said Julie Holodak, Senior Marketing Manager, Sony Electronics. "In addition to enhancing communication between parties, there are also cost savings benefits and the potential for reimbursement that will only help to increase the successful adoption of MD2GO in radiology departments throughout the U.S. Following the tremendous success of the MD2GO in other markets including surgery, Sony is excited to bring this technology to radiology and extend the reach of this versatile system."

MD2GO utilizes the Sony SNC-RH124 IP robotic HD camera that's equipped with a 10X lens for superb picture quality. Designed specifically for medical applications, the rolling stand is easy to position anywhere in the room and has a telescopic pole that can be height adjusted from 77" to 87". The system includes a built-in speaker with volume control, and the integrated Sony PCSA-1 microphone provides crystal clear sound quality, capturing even the finest audio details. The system responds quickly to all user commands, providing fast and easy access to the required images. HD video and stills can even be recorded with a click of the mouse and stored locally on a PC.
