House committee looks at DME competitive bidding

Finally, Alfred J. Chiplin, Jr., senior policy attorney for the Center for Medicare Advocacy, explained some problems that are related to the DMEPOS program for beneficiaries. One concern is that information for beneficiaries on the DMEPOS bidding program is incomplete and difficult to locate, even on the CMS website.

The controversy regarding the rebid and the opposition from suppliers adds to the general confusion for beneficiaries, Chiplin said. He argued that CMS needs to be clear to beneficiaries concerning the rules of the program. Beneficiaries should also have good information about their appeal rights when things go wrong, and where they can turn for help.
