Another interesting trend that moves beyond the spa and even the independent cosmetic clinic is the hospital-based cosmetic center. New York's own Bellevue Hospital Center offers purely cosmetic procedures at its "Clinic of Color," says Sciton Manager Todd Sternbach. Bellevue uses a Sciton, Inc., Joule laser for a number of cosmetic procedures. Sciton lasers are utilized for skin resurfacing, the removal of pigmented and vascular lesions, hair removal and acne.
"If hospitals are looking to generate more revenue and expand what they offer to their patient population, it would not be unheard of for them to set up a self-paid cosmetic practice," said Sternbach.
