How healthy is the ACA?

Another major insurance company is pulling away from the ACA.

Aetna decided to cut down their public exchange insurance operations from 778 to 242 counties for the 2017 plan year

Several companies have pulled out of several markets because they are losing money in these markets.

Obviously, insurance companies do not want to lose money but also insurance companies cannot make money if they do not insure people. I have to imagine that there are a number of people modeling how to change the ACA so insurance companies can make a profit and more people can be insured. The only alternative is for those of us who pay taxes to fund the ACA or to modify their regulations.

It is looking more and more likely that Hillary Clinton will be our next President and if that happens, I predict she will try to modify ACA regulations rather than go back to the drawing board.

It may be as simple as allowing insurance companies to offer more pricing bands so they can attract younger and more healthy people and charge more for some populations.

I only hope and pray that Congress decides to work together to solve the problem rather than remain polarized and accomplish nothing.

Only time will tell.
